You may be desperate to lose weight, and everything you’ve tried up to now has failed. And now you’re so discouraged, it’s hard to believe anything will actually work. And let’s face it, most of the diets that are out there are hard to maintain. They’re designed to get the weight off, but not at your leisure, and the weight comes back once you go off the diet. Then you feel worse off than before you started. All that effort for nothing.
From the cabbage soup diet to the Master Cleanse, and from the low-fat diets to the Atkins diet, two things usually happen. You wind up losing some weight, and some of your sanity as well, and in the end you’re right back at the beginning. You feel bad, overweight, discouraged, and have nothing to show for your hard efforts. You feel like a failure. But I have some good news for you. I’m going to give you five tips that are very simple, but also sound, for losing five pounds or more in one week. Here they are:
Drink More Water. – Water is one of nature’s very best appetite suppressants. You should drink at least eight glasses of water every day. It helps you to feel full, increase your metabolism and burn fat, and to flush unwanted toxins from your body. Anytime you don’t drink enough water, you body may store fat and water you don’t need. Here’s the equation for gauging how much water you should drink. Multiply your body weight by .66 and this figure is the amount of ounces you should drink per day.
Exercise More Often. – The healthiest way to lose weight is by exercising. When you increase the amount of exercise you get each day, and maintain your same caloric intake, you can’t help but lose weight. The sweating you do from cardio such as running or walking helps to de-bloat you and helps to melt inches off your body. But if you haven’t exercised in a while, be sure to start off slowly and work your way up. It’s always a good idea to consult with your doctor first.
Don’t Eat Any Processed Foods. – Begin to eat more fruits and vegetables. I know you always hear this about dieting, and there’s a good reason for it. Eat whole grains too.
Cut Back On The Sugar Intake. – And one of the biggest sugar intakes many of us partake of are the sodas and juice drinks. The sugars in these beverages really add up fast and the drinks aren’t filling. And watch out for those so-called ‘fat-free’ products. Sugar is used many times to replace flavor that gets lost whenever fat is removed. And take note of how much sugar you put into your coffee or tea.
Cut Out The carbs.- You need to really cut down on your carb intake. Especially the white carbs, like the kind you find in white bread and potatoes. Learn to like eating high quality lean proteins like fish and chicken. This one change alone can help you drop a few pounds rather quickly. But don’t cut out all carbs. You still want to eat the good ones. Fibrous carbs that come from things like berries, or spinach, or apples are the kinds that help you lose weight.
